pseudonym Crystal Lady

Born February 2, 1983 in Katowice. She graduated from the J. Pankiewicz State High School of Fine Arts  in Katowice in 2003. Studies at the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice. Diploma at the Painting Studio of prof. K. Cieślik in 2008. An additional diploma in the Laboratory of multigraphic activities under the supervision of prof. E. Zawadzka.

A member of the Association of Polish Pastelists in Nowy Sącz and SMTG in Krakow.

She belongs to the artistic and marketing group ART UpCLOSE in New York.

The organizer of the open air painting, Joie de vivre (Joy of Life) for young artists, actively taking part in painting plein-airs.

Has had many individual exhibitions and participated in many collective exhibitions in Poland and abroad. Her works are in permanent exhibition of the Museum of Magical Realism Ochorowiczówka in Wisła.

Her name appeared on the list of Young Art Compass (Rzeczpospolita 2017 Ranking) for the best promising young artist.

The exhibition “What I saw, amazed me” presented the work of Katarzyna Kania in the technique of dry pastels. So when we write pictures – hunting for words – it also after some time, we tread on our own path – our style, creating a distinctive self-portrait. The title of the exhibition is a great metaphor, in which the strip of land is the artist’s work, through which he passes from one delight to the other, because the most beautiful moment of creativity is discovering the unknown deck of imagination and technical skills. This is the moment that is amazing for the artist, who draws attention to the multidimensional nature of the creative process. Most of the exhibited works were created in the Drawing Studio of prof. Antoni Kowalski.

The subject of her graduation work is vampirism. The author takes aesthetic choices (more interpretative than illustrative), limiting herself to creating a scene similar to the scenography in the theater, but not allowing her to act on it. As a result, axial, symmetrical images of interiors are created, with an almost sacral expression, enriched with a net of enveloping forms of organic origin. The axial composition has its graphic works as well. This time, this compositional ostentation is intended to make this set to the card deck.
